Bethany & Wesley : Unsought Comfort

The Hawkes and their consorts Sers Wesley and Aveline decide to take a rest to recover their strength and have some water.  Aveline knows a nearby source so she and Hawke go to retrieve some.

Bethany and Carver are discussing rumors they've heard about Kirkwall when they hear Ser Wesley, he's rolling uncomfortably.  The taint is taking him slowly. 

Carver rolls his eyes, but Bethany gets up.  She approaches slowly, uncertain if he would welcome her comfort.

Bethany: Aveline is getting water, are you alright?

Wesley looks nervously at Bethany. 

Bethany: I'm not going to harm you. I believe your wife and my brother have put that aside. May I?

Wesley groans but says nothing. 

Bethany watches Wesley Nervously

Bethany sighs and moves closer to Wesley, performing light healing on whatever she can. 

Wesley: Th-thank you. 

Bethany: You're welcome. I wish I could do more but-

Wesley: You can...

Bethany: No Ser Wesley, the taint...

Wesley: Aveline won't... Be okay. Without me...

Bethany: You'll be fine, don't --

Wesley: No... Please. *cough* Swear to me.

Ser Wesley Succumbs to the Taint

Bethany takes Wesley's extended hand.

Wesley: She won't be okay without someone to protect. Let it be your family...

Bethany: But... I'm a Mage...

Wesley: Somehow... that doesn't seem to matter to me. 

Bethany: I promise, Ser Wesley, we will have Aveline as our own sister. She won't be alone. 

Wesley closes his eyes. 

Bethany: Oh no... Wesley?

Wesley whispers: Just resting...

Bethany stays there with him until Aveline gets back, holding his hand. 

Aveline:  Thank you, Bethany.  

Bethany: You're welcome... I'm not sure I did anything.

Aveline: You did.

Aveline and Ser Wesley

Aveline walks past Bethany and kneels by her husbands side to offer him water.  Bethany walks off to return to her family.
