Morrigan & Wynne : The Witch and the Abomination

The Circle at Lake Calenhad has been dealt with, and regardless of the manner will require much reconstruction in the decades to come.

Back at camp, the Warden and his companions take moments to themselves to recover from the images they experienced.  All but two, that is, both of whom have been drawn together at a nearby lake to gather water.

Morrigan spots Wynne approaching and shakes her head.

Wynne spots this, and doesn't mind.

Wynne sees Morrigan as a Daughter
Wynne: Morrigan, I'd like to ask you something.

Morrigan: And yet you do not.

Wynne: I do not think you'd answer me, child. And if so, I'm certain of the answer. But I wanted you to know... I'm curious.

Morrigan: And by doing so, intend for my own curiosity to beg the question?

Wynne: Well?

Morrigan: ...ask.  I promise nothing.

Wynne: After this is over... Would you like to return with me to restore the circle?

Morrigan: Is that a jest designed to aggravate me? Truly. Did Alistair put you up to this?

Wynne: I take that as a no.

Morrigan: A world of no!  There are not enough methods for me to reject this proposal!  I would no sooner restore the circle than I would the Blights of past!
Morrigan's Mad at Wynne
Wynne: Flemeth has done much to twist your mind, young lady. You should choose, if not within the circle, to temper that poison before it corrupts you more than any demon could. Morrigan, I believe you could do much good for our people, if--

Morrigan: Old woman, I am doing far more for Thedas than it deserves already!  Had you had the faintest idea what my path requires, you would not bother me with the moaning of your cattle.

Wynne: Very well, Morrigan.  I will leave you be.  Just know, my dear girl, that it will never be too late for you to cleanse your spirit and let in the light.

Morrigan: This, from a confessed abomination!  Be gone, I tire of your hypocrisy.

Wynne sighs and collects her water in silence, returning to the camp to minister to the Warden who sits worrying about their next move in gathering Ferelden's forces.

Leliana & Morrigan : Under Her Skin

Since the Game of Intrigue has never truly left Leliana's blood, she has been observing the Warden's group since she joined them in Lothering.  By now they had been traveling for some time and there was something she started to notice...

Leliana learning secrets.
Leliana Learning Secrets

Leliana chuckles lightly.

Morrigan: ...

Leliana chuckles again, and this time sighs melodically.

Morrigan: Oh for the love of. Yes?

Leliana: I see how you look at him.

Morrigan: Do not even start.

Leliana: Anyone can see you are smitten. Is it possible Morrigan has a heart after all?

Morrigan: Indeed I do. I have many. Continue this prattle and I shall add yours to the collection.

Morrigan is a little angry.
Morrigan dealing with anger.
Leliana: Deflect all you want. I know you are a woman underneath it all.

Morrigan: My womanhood was never in question.  Unlike your sense of privacy...

Leliana chuckles.

Morrigan: Continue this peevish behavior with Alistair if you will, I'll none of it.

Leliana: But Alistair is not in love with the Warden.  You a--

Morrigan: One more word from your oversmall lips and I shall rip out your tongue, young woman.  Do you understand me?

Leliana purses her lips, and locks them with an invisible key.  She then takes the invisible key and places it slyly in the breast of her robes, patting it softly for safe keeping.

Morrigan allows Leliana to depart and waits for some time before cursing her in private.

Morrigan & Flemeth : One More Thing

The Grey Warden and Alistair had just picked up a brand new companion, Morrigan of the Wilds.  The daughter of the great Flemeth of legend, who rescued them from Ostagar.  So far, they have just been traveling in tense silence, but the night before reaching Lothering, at camp, Morrigan departed and entered the nearby wood.

Morrigan clears her throat.

Silence.

Morrigan: I'm giving you a signal that it is clear.

Silence.
Morrigan's calling out to someone.

Morrigan:  They slumber, you mad woman. You may emerge.

A night owl flies to the ground and becomes Flemeth.

Flemeth: I enjoy testing your patience.

Morrigan: Already nostalgic at my leaving?

Flemeth: Hahaha. No no no. I'm just making sure you haven't changed your mind.

Morrigan: Fear not, mother. I will not bite off their heads until after we have mated and the blight has been ended.

Flemeth: Such restraint!  It is nice to see you do not take after me.

Morrigan: Kinder words were never spoken. Begone now, before they wake.

Flemeth: Indeed. Oh, you should know, I've herded a very talented enchanter and his father in that direction.  Dwarves.

Morrigan: What of them?

Flemeth: Try to save them if you can.  I believe the dwarf child will be of great use to your Wardens, and I suspect beyond.

Morrigan:  Such an immense task you ask of me!  Do not overstrain me much!  Is that all?

Flemeth: Do try to have fun dear. It's a Blight, not an Inquisition.  Now Hahahaha...
Flemeth checks on her investment.

Flemeth becomes a night owl and flies off.

Morrigan: Maddening!

Alistair arrives, rubbing his eyes open and shining a lantern in Morrigan's direction.

Alistair: What is?  Who was that? Are you talking to someone out here?

Morrigan:Me?  Oh, no.  Just howling at the moon and designing crop circles with evil little woodland creatures.

Alistair: I thought I heard...

Morrigan: Bad dreams little boy?  Do you need me to read you a bed time story?

Alistair: All right, all right.  Forget I asked.  I'll be over there by the campfire, not being a lunatic.

Alistair departs, leaving Morrigan with lament at what her task is asking of her.  If only because she's going to have to lay down with that moron.

Alistair & Morrigan : Salt for a Wound

Morrigan watches Alistair as he tosses a piece of gold into the campfire.  She rolls her eyes heavily, nearly hurting herself, and approaches the weepy warden with arms crossed over her chest.  Alistair sees her and shakes his head sadly, wiping away his tears.

Sad Alistair is teased by Morrigan.
Sad Alistair is Sad

Alistair: Go away, Morrigan.

Morrigan: I think I won't.

Alistair: Begone, witch.  Have at thee, shade.  A thousand... daggers.  What do you want?

Morrigan: This HAS to sting.

Alistair: You want to hear me say I'm hurt?  I am.  Happy?

Morrigan: Believe it or not Alistair, my happiness was not crutched upon the Lady Warden rejecting your proposal.

Alistair: Then what do you want, Morrigan.  I don't want to talk about this.

Morrigan: Believe me, neither do I.  But I feel as if there's something I must do.

Alistair: ...give me a hug?

Morrigan slaps Alistair across his face.

Happy Morrigan hates Sad Alistair
Morrigan content after slapping Alistair
Alistair: Okay, so, not a hug.

Morrigan: Recover from this madness, Alistair.  First, Duncan's passing, then your Sister's deceit, and now this?

Alistair:  Too much humanity for you?

Morrigan: Too much for us all.  If we are to survive the Blight, we are going to require your brain in tact.  Small as it may be.

Alistair: I'm doing the best I can.

Morrigan: No, you aren't.  And stop pretending you are.

Alistair: ...

Morrigan: Better?

Alistair: Yes, but don't do that again.

Morrigan: I would not dare indulge.  I'm returning to my camp now.  I trust I won't be awoken by any more dry sobbing?

Morrigan departs, feeling overjoyed at having just been granted the opportunity to give Alistair a slap.  She only wished she could congratulate the Warden on her ability to focus on the task at hand, but that, she deemed, would be too kind.

Sten & Zevran : What a Qunari Needs

Before the Landsmeet, the camp is full on the outskirts of Denerim.  Sten stands by the fire keeping vigil, and suddenly finds himself being approached by Zevran.

Zevran offers a cookie to Sten

Zevran: Well hello there Sten. Fancy meeting you here.

Sten: I am always here.

Zevran: And now so am I! How lucky for us both.

Sten: I am not of that opinion.

Zevran: Oh but you will be! Oh yes you will.

Sten: Then let us skip ahead to that time.

Zevran: I have here a bag. Within this bag is the one thing you need--

Sten: I doubt that.

Zevran: The one thing you need WHICH... you will never get for yourself.

Sten: And you did?

Zevran: I did.

Sten: Panahedan. There is nothing I need from an honorless assassin.

Zevran: Not even this?

Zevran holds out a cookie.
Sten seriously loves cookies.

Sten: ...

Zevran: Well?

Sten takes a deep breath.

Zevran: My arm... It gets tired.

Sten takes the cookie and walks away from the campfire without a word.

Zevran: You're welcome!

Zevran turns about on his heels and heads happily back to his tent.

Alistair & Morrigan : Saving a Woman

Walking along the Imperial Highway from Ostagar are the Grey Warden, Alistair, and Morrigan.  Lothering is within sight, but Alistair notices something up the road which spurs him into a run.

Alistair: Darkspawn!  Up ahead!

Morrigan: Allow me...

The two genlock sizzle in the throws of a fireball and scatter off.  This left a single hurlock.  He was lifting his arm against an elder lady they had not noticed.

Alistair shield bashes the hurlock down and smites it while the Warden escorts the lady to safety.

While the Warden makes certain there are no remaining Darkspawn, Alistair and Morrigan address the rescued lady.

Alistair: Call me crazy but running towards Ostagar? Not the greatest idea.

Woman: I had to try. My family is there.

Morrigan: They are not, not any longer. All that remains of Ostagar is ruin and rubble.

Woman: Then it's true. All is lost.

Alistair: Not all! Just... most!

Morrigan: Sever your ties and run, woman.

Woman: Very well, I will not push south.  I will wait for them in Lothering, with my daughter.

The Warden returns.

Morrigan

Morrigan: Suit yourself. Warden? Alistair? Shall we away? Or are there more helpless fools to assist?

Alistair: She can HEAR you Morrigan...

Morrigan: And your point?

Alistair and Morrigan depart down the imperial highway bickering.

The warden chooses to offer health poultices to the woman.

Woman: Thank you. I shall wait here a bit longer. Darkspawn or no.

Warden: (chooses to be positive) I wish you luck...

Woman: Hawke. Leandra Hawke. I had two at Ostagar. Perhaps they survived as you did...

Warden: (chooses to be supportive) I hope you see your children, Leandra Hawke.

Leandra: Thank you, Grey Warden.

The Warden departs, catching up with Alistair and Morrigan.

A Welcome Note to Imagine Thedas

Welcome to Imagine Thedas

Whether you're Olesian, Ferelden, Qunari, Dalish, Dwarf, or some sort of halfsie... this is going to be a place for you to celebrate your addiction to the Dragon Age Universe.

Imagine Thedas is the result of a great Facebook Community known as the Dragon Age Universe.  I've never been so fortunate as to become a fan of a game with such a thriving fan base!  With Dragon Age Inquisition nearing release date, we are all sort of going a little stir crazy soaking up each and every little bit of Thedas we can get!  Even that's not enough, because many people including myself are taking to creating head canon to expand on the already vast world of Dragon Age.

So whether you're a hardcore fan of the game or someone who enjoys a little chit chat here and there about how dreamy Alistair is, how bad-ass Morrigan is, or how insipidly delightful Leliana is (and that's just Origins), please head over to the Facebook group which started it all!

Here you'll find notices to the more hilarious postings, contests inspired by the group, a few headcanon scenes written by members, and I'll be using this place as a hub for all of us to start sharing our Dragon Age adventures with one another!

Do you have an idea of how to make this blog even more amazing than it's already GOING to be?  Let me know!  Are you are a graphics artist who wants to make me a neat logo?  Do iiiiiit!  I can't wait to get you guys involved!

Thanks for those of you who make the Dragon Age Universe the best Facebook Page I've ever been in!

Your (not very) humble servant,
Drew De Jesus

PS - Thank you to Bioware also for making the Dragon Age franchise into something so expansive as to be able to support our immense fandom.
